Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started, Insurance, Telehealth and Treatment
How do I get started?
Start with a free phone consultation. You can complete the consultation request form, email kellysestero@nwmindfulnesscounseling.com, or call 503-208-6511. Please allow up to 2 business days for a response.
Who do you work with?
I work with adults, especially high-achieving professionals who look successful on the outside but are struggling on the inside with anxiety, panic, perfectionism, self-doubt, or the effects of trauma.
Do you take my insurance?
I’m in network with Aetna, First Health Networks, Moda (beginning December 2026), Optum, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United Healthcare/UBH. If your plan isn’t listed, you may be able to use out-of-network benefits, and I can provide a superbill for reimbursement. It’s a good idea to call your insurance before your first appointment to check your coverage.
How much does therapy cost without insurance?
A 60-minute intake and assessment is $215, and a 55-minute individual session is $200. There is a 24-hour cancellation policy.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Secure video sessions are available for adults anywhere in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. In-person sessions are available at my office in Beaverton.
Where is your office?
12725 SW Millikan Way, Suite 300, Beaverton, OR 97005, on the 3rd floor of the Beaverton Building in the Round. There’s a MAX stop just outside, and the parking garage just east of the building has validated parking. See directions and parking.
Do you treat PTSD?
Yes. I provide Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), both recommended as first-line treatments for PTSD. Learn more about trauma and PTSD treatment.
What is the difference between PE and CPT?
Cognitive Processing Therapy focuses on changing unhelpful beliefs that developed after trauma, such as self-blame or feeling unsafe. Prolonged Exposure helps you gradually approach memories and situations you’ve been avoiding. Both are structured and time-limited, and we decide together which is the better fit.
What approaches do you use for anxiety?
I use evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with mindfulness and principles from Buddhist psychology. Learn more about anxiety treatment.
Do you treat OCD?
Yes. I treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the first-line, most thoroughly researched therapy for OCD. Learn more about OCD treatment.
Do I need to be in crisis to start therapy?
No. Many people start therapy because they’re tired of holding everything together, even if life looks fine from the outside. If you are in crisis right now, please don’t wait for a reply: call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department, or call or text 988.
Do you offer clinical supervision?
Yes. I’m an OBLPCT Approved Clinical Supervisor and offer individual and group supervision for Registered Associates and Licensed Professional Counselors in Oregon. Learn about supervision.
