From the outside, you appear successful, capable, and in control...
Inside, it may feel very different.
You may be second-guessing yourself, worrying about things you once handled with confidence, or feeling constantly on edge. Your mind may race through everything that could go wrong. You might experience episodes of panic or find yourself avoiding situations that feel uncomfortable or uncertain.
You’ve probably tried to manage it. Staying busy. Distracting yourself. Preparing for every possibility. Working harder. Trying to keep things under control.
These strategies may help for a while. But the anxiety keeps coming back.
And maintaining the appearance that everything is fine can be exhausting.
When anxiety becomes overwhelming, it is natural to organize your life around trying to prevent it. You avoid what might trigger it. You seek certainty before making decisions. You try to control your thoughts, your feelings, your environment—or even how other people respond to you.
The problem is that the struggle to get rid of anxiety can gradually give anxiety more influence over your life.
Therapy can help you step out of that cycle.
Rather than focusing only on making uncomfortable thoughts and feelings disappear, we can work toward understanding what keeps you stuck, changing patterns that reinforce anxiety, and developing the ability to move toward what matters to you—even when uncertainty or discomfort is present.
For more than 20 years, I have helped people navigate anxiety, trauma, periods of significant stress, and times when the ways they have always coped no longer seem to work.
I particularly enjoy working with high-achieving professionals. The qualities that contribute to success—responsibility, persistence, high standards, careful planning, and anticipating problems—can be tremendous strengths. Under stress, however, those same qualities can become intertwined with perfectionism, self-doubt, avoidance, and a need for control.
You may not need to try harder.
You may need a different way of relating to what is happening inside you.
You may still be getting things done. Other people may even tell you how well you are doing. But you know how much effort it is taking.
If you are exhausted from managing anxiety, avoiding what feels overwhelming, or trying to maintain control so that nothing falls apart, I can help you find a different path.
The goal is not to create a life in which you never experience anxiety. It is to help anxiety occupy less space in your decisions, your relationships, and your sense of who you are.
You can begin to feel more grounded, flexible, and connected to yourself again.
